As the Commercial Excellence Director you will provide strategic direction based on current commercial and business insights to and from the Regional Business Directors, and the Key Account Managers, in order to drive effective decision making at the KAM team level to support the optimisation of company profitability and maximise revenue. The role is also responsible for the development and continuous improvement of all customer facing roles


To strategically lead the Commercial Excellence function in order to bring commercial and business insights to and from the KAM account planning process

Participate in the Business Planning process to constructively challenge KAM plans, utilising business and commercial insights.

Supports the Regional Teams with relevant information and analysis to enable an optimal diagnosis of the situation of each account and the monitoring of the account plans, including performance tracking (i.e. sales and activity).

To ensure the KAM Model is effectively implemented across all areas of the business.

Lead the training team in the provision of market leading KAM training in line with the customer centric European KAM Model implementation.

Ensure a high performing sales team is maintained, by building appropriate development plans across the sales teams.

UK Leadership Team and Collaboration

Contributes to the development of Company policy and business-wide decisions as a constructive member of the UK Leadership Team;

People Management and Leadership

Recruit, develop and coach direct reports for performance.

Conduct and document regular performance reviews and an annual review as well as regular personal / career development discussions with direct reports


Essential: ABPI and Full driving license and flexibility to travel when necessary

Desirable: Degree level education, preferably life sciences

Person/Experience Required


In-depth and current experience of designing, and developing a Commercial Effectiveness strategy utilising market data and commercial insights in order to drive strategic goals across the business.

Proven experience gathering and acting upon commercial insights in order to lead a cross functional team to drive sales performance within the UK.

Proven leadership skills with highly effective communication, networking and influencing capability both with senior internal and external stakeholders.

Proven ability to develop and lead the implementation of the principles of Key Account Management within a specialty business leading to high performance.

Substantial and successful experience gained in leading and managing teams of sales professionals within a pharmaceutical organisation.

P&L management responsibility.


Professional qualification obtained in a relevant subject - e.g. MBA,

Experience working within a relevant NHS role.

In-depth and current understanding of the DOAC Market
