HIV is a disease that is still incurable today. We should always practice safe sex and also educate our people how to avoid the spread of this disease.

I just read that Merck donated 350K and Lilly 250K plus matching amounts and some donated medicine, that is pathetic, these companies make HUGE profits, The doctors in Haiti need medicines, anesthesia drugs NOW. This is the equivalent of the average person donating 25 cents to the cause.

Most people get Diabetes because of the lack of exercise and overeating. We should be more aware of our lazy lifestyles and start exercising regulary to avoid Type II Diabetes.

I am so sorry that this tragedy has occurred; however, this proves that money doesn't buy happiness. She was a beautiful young lady and I am sure she had problems and situations that other people have that weren't close to being as fortunate (financially) as she was. This is awful and I can't imagine how the family is feeling at this time. My prayers are with you and May God Bless you all.

If members of NICE had been treated with Amiodarone for a few years they might have thought differently!
The informed patient community has been yearning for an alternative with less side effects and we accept that it will only be "Amiodarone lite", inevitably more expensive as a new introduction, and with side effects that will emerge with use. What about the side effects of Amiodarone? My thyroid may still not have recovered.
Will we get the same response with other -darone class drugs in the pipeline?
With this sort of attitude, we would still have trains powered by coal and aeroplanes with piston engines and propellors!!!!

As a lifelong person with eczema I know from experience how one product can vary markedly from another supposedly similar preparation. Some otherwise 'similar' emollients can produce an adverae reaction, purely from the different preservative used by different producers.
Patient compliance can be massively reduced, with again adverse effects in terms of NHS expense in the long run.

Very pleased to hear of this development, it gives hope to all those who are on the C.L.L. journey like myself. I was diagnosed with C.L.L.
in Aug 2006 and have undergone effective chemotherapy in April 2007 which put me in remission until Oct 2008. I re- presented with symptoms i.e. swollen lymph nodes in my neck, spleen, abdomen etc. I have been on the watch and wait programme of 3 monthly check ups scince then with my care team and myself agreeing that `quality of life` is as important as treatment, to bring about a second effective remission. Given that although I did achieve an effective remission of almost 18 months my care team were reluctant to proceed to chemotherapy
i.e. Chlormabucil @ Fludarabine combinations, due to the fact that my remission had been accompanied with some pretty heavy side effects. However due to the widespread presentation of swollen lymph nodes as shown up on a recent M.R.I. and the fact that I am now asymptomatic, night sweats, lethargy big time etc,I have been put forward for R.F.C. tx
(Ritixmab/Chlormabucil @ Fludarabine)which I have concured with my care team despite my reservasions of a repeat of the side effects. Just awaiting a bed for intial dose which is given by injection while an inpatient and then continues as oral therapy given on an outpatient basis.I am sure there are many others out there who will symphasise with the fact that although I am on the list for said `tx of choice` I am keen to `just get on with it and get it done.

However due to the widespread presentation of swollen lymph nodes as shown up on a recent M.R.I. and the fact that I am now asymptomatic, night sweats, lethargy big time etc,I have been put forward for R.F.C. tx

Please send me more information Victoza viz a viz

   a) Is availability for service users via hospitals only or through GPs as well?
   b) Is Victoza found tolerable by all users?

We will welcome any other useful information to pass on to community groups.

                        Thanks.
